Who knew my big debut would come so soon? Not quite, but I could call myself almost famous since I was lucky enough to snag an invite to Washington, D.C.’s White House Correspondents’ Dinner cocktail party over the weekend. In case you’re new to the area and were living in a bubble the past few days, The White House Correspondents’ Dinner, nicknamed “nerd prom” and tracing back to 1914, takes place annually in the nation’s capital. Red carpet and all, A-list celebs, political gurus and head honcho journalists buzz the scene—making it nothing less than a high-society event.
On Saturday evening stars rocked the runway in their ball gowns, up-dos, stilettos and fresh faces, pausing for the appropriate flashes here and there, and mingling among drinks and friends. I, myself, was an onlooker of the fabulous scene, catching the gorgeous looks of Katy Perry, Sophia Vergara, Hayden Panettiere, Amy Poehler and the infamous Barbara Streisand. Not only did I to get a good peek at the stunning gowns these ladies wore, but I managed to grab a few pics with some of my most serious celeb crushes!
First there was Sophia Bush. Best known for her acting in WB’s hit television show, “One Tree Hill,” she has also had roles in “John Tucker Must Die,” “The Hitcher” and “Stay Alive.” Bush was more flawless than I could imagine up close and personal, donning a white embroidered Lela Rose dress and Jimmy Choo bag. Completing her look, she had a perfect sock bun and adorable fringe bangs, and, of course—enough kindness to take a picture with star-struck me!
Next was, again, one of my personal favorites, Kate Walsh, best known for starring roles in ABC’s ”Grey’s Anatomy” and “Private Practice.” Her perfectly pulled-back pony showed off her shoulders, on display thanks to a stunning strapless Caroline Herrera black-and-white dress, which was paired with Norman Silverman jewels. The gown’s flowered pattern worked perfectly for Walsh; she was certainly a sight to see!
If only I could have gone inside to hear President Obama speak and host-of-the-night Conan O’Brien. Maybe next time!
Happy Celeb Spotting!
